Visits and Attachments

GP Registrars should be encouraged to see something of practices that differ from their training practices by visits, short attachments or exchanges. They should see something of the work of public health and occupational medicine, industrial medicine, social services etc. and be able to attend outpatients in subjects where they feel weak.

If registrars wish to claim travel and subsistence for these informal attachments it is important that the local associate director is consulted well in advance (via Mrs Heather Joel, Heather.Joel@southwest.nhs.uk ) so that prior approval can be considered.
