Trainer's Report

Your trainer will receive a bound copy of the Structured Trainers Report at the beginning of your GPR year.

A copy can also be downloaded from the NOSA website. http://www.nosa.org.uk/downloads/html/str.htm

Please review the requirements of the Trainer’s Report with your GP trainer at the beginning of the GPR year. Part 1 of the report – Specific Clinical Skills – can be completed during your hospital posts and parts 2 and 3 throughout the GPR training year.

August 2003 saw the introduction of an updated Trainer’s Report which includes 4 additional criteria in part 3 - ‘Professional Values’ as follows:

  • The Doctor is able to establish and maintain good relationships with patients
  • The Doctor is able to work with colleagues
  • The Doctor keeps good records of clinical encounters
  • The Doctor is able to demonstrate honesty.

All GP registrars who started their general practice training in August 2003 have been issued with the new version. Those who started their training before August 2003 may download the additional criteria from the http://www.nosa.org.uk/ website and add this to the 1999 edition of the Structured Trainer’s Report.

The Structured Trainer’s Report is a component of Summative Assessment. Please remember to present the completed and signed report for endorsement by the Director of Postgraduate GP Education one month before the completion of GP training.
