Extensions

Failed components of Summative Assessment usually require periods of further training, but additional training is also available to those experiencing problems with Summative Assessment.

Please seek advice from your GP trainer or local Associate Director

The period of failed training should be documented on a VTR/1 RITA D form. This form highlights problem areas which need addressing, but does not treat the entire post as failed.  If the trainee then goes on to pass a remedial post by addressing the problems highlighted on the RITA D that post will be documented on a VTR/1 RITA C.

Planned Extensions to GPR training to gain further experience and skills not acquired in the GPR year are now available but are cash limited. They are dependent on an educational plan drawn up by the GPR and GP trainer and must be approved by the Director of Postgraduate GP Education.
